The Pursuit of Happiness is about a culture run amok with bare-fanged competition and a crazed obsession with achievement. The play follows one woman’s journey to get her daughter into college.

Kevin O’Rourke is an actor, director and producer who has lived and worked in the New York City area for over 30 years. His TV work includes VEEP and BOARDWALK EMPIRE—both on HBO–as well as numerous guest spots on episodic television. He also plays Sheriff Tom Weinike in the upcoming WGN series OUTSIDERS. His feature films include VICE VERSA, TURBULENCE, TATTOO, LAST BALL, THE AVIATOR, and FREEHELD starring Julianne Moore and Steve Carell. On stage he has performed on Broadway in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF with Kathleen Turner, SPOILS OF WAR with Kate Nelligan and ALONE TOGETHER with Kevin McCarthy. His off-Broadway and regional theatre work includes performances at Lincoln Center Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Public, Second Stage, Playwrights Horizons, Roundabout, Primary Stages, Arena Stage, Seattle Rep, Alliance Theatre, Baltimore’s Centerstage, Long Wharf, and Williamstown Theatre Festival.
Richard Dresser‘s plays have appeared in New York, regional theater, and Europe. They include the widely produced ROUNDING THIRD (which was recently made into a film starring John C. McGinley and Garret Dillahunt) and BELOW THE BELT (which was filmed as “Human Error”). His trilogy of plays about happiness in America includes AUGUSTA, THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, and A VIEW OF THE HARBOR. Two new plays premiered in 2015: TROUBLE COMETH at San Francisco Playhouse and CLOSURE at NJ Rep. He wrote the book for the musicals JOHNNY BASEBALL (about the Curse of the Red Sox) and THE HOLLER, a bluegrass ghost musical, both of which appeared at the Williamstown Theater Festival. He has written and produced TV shows ranging from “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd” with Blair Brown to “The Job” with Denis Leary. He teaches at Rutgers and Queens College and is vice president (and a founding member) of the Writers Guild Initiative, which does writing workshops with wounded warriors, veterans and caregivers among other groups.

David is the writer/director of the social media comedy series Connection Unavailable. He is also the co-creator of the web series Ben & David (backstage.com) and the half-hour pilot of the same name. Victor Verhaeghe can currently be seen in the Steven Spielberg film, Bridge of Spies. He has a recurring role in the upcoming HBO mini-series Crime, and also had a recurring role for three seasons on the HBO hit, Boardwalk Empire. He has written a series of anti- gun/pro-love spots that are currently in pre-production. This past summer he appeared in Richard Dresser’s CLOSURE at New Jersey Rep.
Kathleen McNenny’s Broadway credits include: Enemy of the People, Death of a Salesman, Coram Boy, After the Fall, Constant Wife, A Few Good Men. She has appeared in numerous off-broadway shows and extensively in regional theaters. TV: The Good Wife, Person of Interest, The Black Box, Law and Order, CI and SVU, Third Watch, Pennsylvania Miners Story (MOW), New Amsterdam and numerous failed pilots. FILMS: The Happy House, Music And Lyrics, School of Rock, Life with Mikey, It could Happen to You. Kathleen has also been in 100’s of commercials and voice overs, as well as a book narrator.
Molly Carden‘s New York credits include: EMOTIONAL CREATURE (Signature Theatre),CHERRY SMOKE (Working Theater), DOWNTOWN RACE RIOT (NYSF/Powerhouse Theater), HOW TO LIVE ON EARTH (HERE Arts/Colt Coeur), 52ND TO BOWERY TO COBBLE HILL, IN BROOKLYN (EST Marathon, 2015). Regional: ON CLOVER ROAD (Contemporary American Theater Festival), EMOTIONAL CREATURE (Berkeley Repertory Theatre), THE GREAT IMMENSITY, (co-production with The Civilians at Kansas City Repertory Theatre) PROOF (Temple Theatre in North Carolina). Charlie O’Rourke graduated in 2012 from Whitman College with a BA in Theater, and has been spending the last three years working in New York City. He has interned and volunteered at the 52nd Street Project in Hell’s Kitchen, and has been working as an executive assistant and drama teacher at The IDEAL School of Manhattan on the Upper West Side. He has participated in several readings and a one act play written and directed by Deborah Copeland. He also worked at Totem Pole Playhouse as a camp director, assistant director, and actor.
